Commonly known as the “ghost ant”, T.melanocephalum is a very invasive species of ant. They grow fast and are highly polygynous. On top of this they are tiny measuring in at 1-3mm. If you are considering keeping this species you need to be very aware that they are incredibly good at escaping, so when it comes to your setup you need to have a good one. Make sure to have plenty of barriers such as PTFE to stop them. I would recommend simply using a plastic tub with tubes to keep them. Setups that are sold are not necessarily suitable.
Please note that this is a highly invasive species, so please make sure you have a suitable setup and understand the risks associated with them!
In terms of feeding they will accept most foods readily.
